Trouble installing my 4L80E!
#1
I wanted to see if any of you knew an easy fix for my problem. Forgive me if I say something stupid I'm still learning.
I bought a 4l80 for my 92 chevy a few years back. The truck was carbuerated and I used a compushift stand alone ECU to program the tranny. When we put the 6.0 liter in my 04 silverado 2 weeks back we couldn't use my 4l80 because I'm guessing maybe its an old style tranny and it doesnt have a PRNDL like my stock 4L60. It doesnt even have mounting holes on the tranny for the PRNDL.
Anyone know a way around this problem?

4L80E are electronic transmissions. They all should have mounting for a PRNDL switch. What year is the 4L80E? Maybe they did something screwy the first couple of years but I can't imagine what else they would have used back then.

Thats the problem, I dont know what year it is. I bought it from http://www.transmissioncenter.net/4l80e.htm . Its the level 2 tranny. I was under the impression they are all electronic as well but the tranny is just as I described above so I don't know :-(

Besides getting it mounted I don't think the shift shaft will be long enough, or the correct cut, to go through the NSS and the shifter bracket and work with the NSS.

mine had two pieces of 1/2 inch by 1/4 by three inch tabs welded to the case vertically. Then had a hole that was drilled and tapped on one side, the other side would slide up and dow.
