Default transmition keeps blowing

Hey all i have a question for my cousin. he has a 97' silverado with the 5.7 vortech. his truck is stock only thing done is exhaust and thats only a cut out your muffler typ deal. anyway he is averaging a transmittion a year, its been 4 or 5 trans i think. something tells me that this isnt a problem related with the transmittion its self. what els could cause the trans to blow. doesnt really pull anything mabee a boat once in a while but its a small bass boat...
if no ideas it also coulb be the fact that hes a bumb *** and doesnt know what he is doing when he is putting it in .

mmmmm, who is rebulding it? also these trucks seem to shift in to O/D early, leave it in drive till you get over 50 mph, that will help the trans, does he have a trans cooler?

yeah but still my buddy has like the same stuck and its lifted with 35" tires on it and mud runs so that would be alot harder than anything my cousin is doing with it. he isnt rebuilding the trans some shop is. i dont know the shop i live in wisconsin and he lives in oaklahoma. so i know nothing els then what i said previously. not 100% sure on the trans cooler, i dont think so tho but if he did i would tell him to check the lines or the cooler for a clog

I would say the problem is the rebuilder, not much the tranny.

tim, so you say its better to keep the truck out of O/D? mine shifts into overdrive and locks up the coverter under very light throttle about 45mph i know i need to get a tune and get the lock up mph's raised but im waiting for the cam install before i get the tune. so are you saying to put it into tow/haul mode or whateever until about 50?
