Default Transmission fluid/filter change question

I've got approx 52K miles on my truck and was thinking about doing a filter change on my transmission. Not a flush, just a filter change and replace the fluid that is lost when the pan is dropped. Any techs out there have any recommendations? I've read that a tranny with a lot of miles that hasn't had regular fluid and filter changes shouldn't be messed with. I have had the truck since it had 32K miles on it and haven't been in the transmission other than to install the corvette servos. Should I be safe with this mileage?
