Ok. here is the deal, while I am driving along, my transmission feels like it goes into neutral when it is in 4th gear. The rpm's go up and the truck will actually just coast if I hold the accell pedal steady. If I give it some gas or let off the gas it will go back into gear and be fine, but it will do it again, over and over as I am driving. Also my transmision temps are a good bit higher than normal. Usually I run anout 150-170 trans temps with the b&m cooler on it. now it goes to 200?? The fluid looks good and the transmission was rebuilt by my transmission tech at work about 1600 miles ago. He is a 20 plus year gm master certified transmisison tech. Mistakes by him are very very seldom.
Any ideas?? I'm gonna be bending his ear for some thought when we go back to work on Tuesday.
This is on a 2002 sierra with a 4l60e transmission.
Somthing else I have noticed...My gear indicator will not highlight when it is in Prak or neutral. I'm thinking the switch on the side of the transmission is screwed up causing this. Could that cause my other problem as well??

Yes If The Indicator Is Not Set Right It Can Cause This Also When You Get To Work Set It With The Tech 2 And All Should Be Good.i Would Drive It In 3rd Till I Could Set The Switch So Nothing Bad Happens.

when yall say shift indicator are you talking about
the part with the glued plug ins?
I noticed with this the bolt holes are enlongated
allowing for some adjustability.
Mine wouldnt start because it wouldnt show park.
so I turned it some and checked it until it was right and tightened it down.
I had to use a longer bolt in the back hole with a tap
because of those plug ins
I dont see how this could make yours go into neutral
though sounds more like what WTD said with the shift linkage or a trans problem
hopefully the trans is OK

Well, I just fixed one problem. One of the connectors had come loose on the switch on the side of the transmission. Got it plugged back up and made sure it snapped into place. Now the gear selector display is working right.
I'll know next time I drive it if the other problem is still there. I hope not, would be nice for somthing to be simple on my end for a change

Could low line pressure from a restricted line or poor flow through the external cooler cause this?? I'm using a B&M trans cooler and did a search and saw where someone mentioned the plate style coolers can not be flushed. The transmission got rebuilt because it had a ton of water in it from condensation from the truck sitting up so long before. I did not replace the cooler, didnt realize there may be a need to.
