Default Transgo HD2 shift kit is in!

I installed the HD2 kit and vette servo today. Everything went well The truck shifts so much better. 1-2nd is quick and firm at part throttle....it chirps these 31" tires going into 2nd at full throttle TM is veeeery obvious with the shift kit...it shifts quick and firm while falling on it's face. I put my stock PCM in after installing the kit to avoid damaging anything.

I'll have my tune updated with the stock line pressure and probably will have more TM removed. I had 70% removed, what would you guys suggest now??? Can 100% be removed safely????

The install was not difficult, just very time consuming. I've never dropped the pan on a 4L60E, so it was a little over whelming at first. Bottom line, if you can change the tranny fluid, you can do this install

I would suggest taking a washer or two out of the second accumulator. You do NOT want your transmission jolting hard enough to chirp tires. The 4L60-E is not strong enough to do that.
You might consider putting a converter in it. Even though that will send more torque to the input shaft on launch it will smooth out the forces during shifting where the band or clutches and geartrain are having to slow down a wide open throttle engine.

Everybody loves removing torque management, but think for a moment about why it's there. The 700R4 was designed for engines making 180HP and 280ft/lbs torque. The 4L60-E is mechanically the same thing, so how does it "handle" 350HP and 380ft/lbs torque? Well, it "handles" it electronically in the form of torque management.

Just trying to save you some money here.

I had all of the TQM removed on my truck by Futral on Monday and broke the transmission on Wednesday at the track. It left real hard off the line and before the top of 1st it broke...badly. I also had a shift kit installed and only had 80k on this tranny.

I'm with James its there for a reason and it def protects the tranny.

PS - Im only making 326 RWHP and 350 RWTQ with a bolt on LQ9.

I'll stick with 70% removed, even though I'm not making anywhere near 300RWHP.

Anybody else think I should remove a spacer from the 1-2 accumulator? I may pull one after I see how it shifts with the updated tune.
