I think the TBSS case uses the bcm to activate the brakes at each wheel as it looses traction. Silverado ss uses the viscous coupling.

it uses a t-3 torsen differential to transfer power instead of a viscous coupler. its suppose to be strong as ****.

http://www.torsen.com/products/T-3.htm

what i don't understand is how the nv120 tbss t-case can be stronger than the sss nv149 when the numbers don't jive. the second number is suppose to be strength from high to low. and last i checked a 2 was lower than a 4 lmao. but at the same time according to the charts it should be a 125 not a 120 because the 5 is suppose to be Torsen-type differential.

Yeah, that's one cool thing about both the 120 and the 149. No electronics needed to run it. Just plug in your vss and your done.

Bringing this back up, so hopefully somebody can answer Grippy's question, and a question that I have...

just window shopping fleabay, and I keep seeing NP-149's, but no NV-149's. I believe that NP = New Process, and NV = New Venture...is there a difference?

NP(G) & NVG are the same company renamed. New Process Gear changed their name to New Venture Gear in 1999, but people still refer to them by both names.
