Default trans or verter crapping out?

ok, the shifts are getting kinda long and sloppy at part throttle, but fine at WOT. the verter will lock up at 43 mph and unlock as soon as i let up on the gas, then it will lock and unlock really fast 2-3 times before staying locked @ 50-55 mph.(the locking and unlocking is an intermittant problem) my truck has taken off in second gear and downshifted to first about halfway through the intersection when taking off from a light red under normal acceleration twice in the last 2 weeks. it is the stock verter and trans. has 103,000 miles on them. never been rebuilt or serviced. should i try to change the fluid and see if that helps, or just yank it out and get it rebuilt? do i need a shift kit and servos, or can i just turn up the line pressure in the trans? also, if it gets rebuilt, what are some internal upgrades i should look for or have installed. im not looking for anything extreme, just a little stronger. if the trans comes out, it will be getting a fuddle 3000. sorry for all the stupid questions, im not too well versed in transmissions. any input will be greatly appreciated.

i have never heard of the TC being the issue with a high mileage stock transmission set up but i guess it could happen and might be the issue with all the locking and unlocking things going on. you could be burning your 1-2 or 2-3 bands in your trans though ive read thats the culprit for alot of failures and might be waht is going on with you downshifting through lights and stuff. change the fluid first as thats always a plus, i just put a servo in my 4l60, couldnt really tell a difference but it could be masked by the 3200 verter. do not raise the line pressure though. im reducing mine to stock when my stuff gets installed and retuned but i understand that high line pressure is very bad. being only 75$ ebay i would say throw in a shift kit and servo for the hell of it and see what happens. insted of replacing parts in your trans i would recommend just getting a wholy rebuilt unit from FLT or something like that.

well, a buddy of mine's dad owns a trans shop, so a rebuild would be MUCH cheaper for me. im not looking for a flt level 5 or anything like that, just a little bit beefier trans, because the truck isnt ran very hard. im going to change the fluid next weekend and see if that does it. if not, the trans is coming out in the next month or 2.

What all is done to the truck? What about the tune etc? Has anything been changed recently? If its pretty much stock, and no trans settings have been tuned/changed recently Id say the longer shifts are from the clutches slipping (had that problem a few times myself ) but the converter not locking could be electrical (solenoids not holdint/firing etc) or the lock up clutch could be going out. Im by no means a pro at fixing or diagnosing trannys just a guess, but I do consider myself a pro at blowing them up.

Also the main clutch paks I have problems with is the 3-4 pak. All but one tranny fried the 3-4 FIRST.

As far as the rebuild, Id suggest a shift kit, and servos. Vette servos, and the OD servo. I feel confident that if I would have had the OD servo I may not have fried the last few trannys I burnt up.
