Default Trans Temp Gauge Installation

I have an Autometer 2 5/8" mechanical gauge I want to install in my '00 ECSB. Can anyone tell me what the best route to the trans from the cab is? The capilary tube length on the gauge looks like it's got to be a fairly straight shot. I'm going to hook it up to a Dearle deep pan on a 4L60E. Gauge mount options can be either in the Autometer bracket under the dash or in the dash.

I would return it and get an electrical gauge, so you don't have to plumb oil into the gauge.

2x on returning the gauge.

I have had a gauge in 2 different spots. The first place was in the cooler feed line. This basically gave the temp of the fluid exiting the trans. After a long WOT run this temp was like 190*. But The internal trans gauge said 120*.

Honestly if i add the gauge back i plan on putting it back in the cooler feed line like before.

maybe it returned to the trans cooler.....the internal sensor could be accurate at that location

I can't return the gauge for electric. The Dearle has an integral boss /fitting for the mechanical gauge. Reading temp in the pan shouldn't be a problem and should be representative of the temp. the trans is operating at shouldn't it? The trick is getting through the cab floor to the trans pan.

+1 electrical. Pan is fine. Is it long enough to run up the firewall to where the grommet for the hood latch cable is?

I have been running my Auto meter mechanical trans temp in the pan for 4 years or so and havent had any problems.

Sweet location. I have the same color interior. Gauge is the black face. My airbag on/of key switch is located in that spot. Was your's? If so, where did you move it? How did you run the capilary tube? Straight down behind the console and through the cab floor?

I didnt have a air bag switch, it was a empty spot for me to put junk in so I put it there. I ran the line down by the console and out the floor.
It looks better now that its all painted up and cleaned up, that was a quick pic when I was putting it in, I wish the guage was black aswell but it was a spare guage that I had for my car.
