I think it is a factory truck pan with a drain...

That is the same pan that is on my 65e from the factory but the plug is different.

A deep filter is required. It claims to add 2 more quarts even though it does look the same depth as the factory pan. I'll confirm this weekend after I install it with some pics for reference. Either way I'm glad it adds the drain plug.

I'd put money on the short pan. Still a good idea for those of you wanting a drain plug. Also should drain better that the oe pan with the factory crappy plug! Vince

Its just there to trick you. It's not really a drain plug. They want u to put a wrench on it and bend the trans pan so you have to buy another pan. Or at least that's what I've come up with. I heated that f-er up with a propane torch and she still wouldn't budge.

If you get one that isn't rounded out already, then usually an impact with some pressure on it will do it. If not, then I air hammer them out and replace it with a new one.

I'd like to see a link to that price! I ordered one today for a unit I'm building up for a fbody. It seems that this pan is cheaper than a factory deep truck pan but it was $50 plus the shipping. I will have in my hands tomorrow to see how it looks. Thanks for the tip guys. Vince

Okay installed the pan tonight and everything went smooth. It fit great for a China pan stamping and aslong as it doesn't leak I'm happy with the outcome. To clarify it does NOT add any capacity over the stock pan (I had the deep pan to begin with). It does however add 2 quarts over the stock shallow pan. The main benefit to me is the drain plug and that was worth the $35 imo.
