Default trans guys step inside

Was checkn oil in truck and check tranny fluid and it smells burnt no to bad but its dark red, I've been wantn to put shift kit and servo in just havnt got around to buying it yet, since the fluid smells burnt figured just have it flushed and filter change but since the pan is off might as well put the shift kit in. Any advice is welcome just been on my mind and no shop around town will give me a straight anwser.

Now the questions

1) is it worth just putn the kit and servo in or just have rebuilt

2) what have you guys paid for install of shift kit and servo

3) any tuning need to be change after shift kit and servo

Are you using the corvette servo? Most high mileage transmissions will fail due to the fact that they are nearly worn out and a shift kit still misses some key points in a good build. Most kits will modify the TCC circuit for full pressure and eliminating the PWM I did this mod only on my girlfriends 2000 v6 camaro that was slipping into lockup on a stock 185,000 mile 60e.....its been fine every since, but she doesn't race her v6 car....

If it was my transmission I would build it...not just "rebuild " get all the goodies from someone you trust and who has experience in built 60e's

reason why I think you should build it is because the stock sunshell likes to break/strip out at 100-120k miles on most trucks...installing a shift kit with a harder hitting servo will only speed up this breakage issue....when most good builders rebuild a 60e they install a beast sunshell.. they can take the punishment of a harder hitting 2nd gear...

I have a 4L60E I'm looking to get into myself I,m thinking about ordering the TCI Super Pro overhaul kit, TCI Auto 378951 - TCI Pro Super Transmission Overhaul Kits - Overview - SummitRacing.com ,not that expensive and comes with everything but the sun shell for a good price. But thing is I haven't come across any whose used one so no reviews on how it works but if this helps, let me know what you think of it.

That's not a bad price just having someone put it in will be expensive

Yea that's the biggest problem I'm having but I've seen videos where guys install it in their garage with a hammer and a 2x4. Watching these guys made me think if push comes to shove I might just buy a 4L60E manual and do it myself.
