Default trans fluid question

from what i gather synthetic fluid is not recommended for built tranies. but is castrol atf ok? is says for older transmissions and is good dexronIII. but not for use in cars requiring dexron VI. is this ok to use?

I use Mobil Dexron VI semi-synthetic in all my built trannies. Havn't had problems yet.

well the castrol atf was on sell and 3.50 less than the mobile VI. if thats what i need so be it but if not then don't wanna waste my money. i had royal purple in my old tranny and it still failed.

oil wont stop a transmission from failing, there are always weak parts ya know! It can help prevent it so maybe you got a few more runs out of it because of it-just an idea

I put GM Dexron 6 in mine. Its supposed to be the latest and greatest non synthetic.

GM Dexron-VI is formulated to be compatible with all seals, gaskets, and friction materials that Dexron-III. It is a direct replacement for all GM/Hyrda-Matic transmissions. Oddly enough, you can even mix III and VI.

From ahwt I know, if the fluid is coffee- brown it needs to be changed..........

if your fluid is changin colors you shouldnt change it... itll cause more problems

mine is light pink. i wish i knew a way to change more than just the pan oil. so should i run dex 6 then?
