Default trans/converter fried?

well, i got back from florida fri night. took my truck out for a spin on sat afternoon. everything was fine untill i got on the interstate and the converter wouldn't lock up. trans temp was normal and cool because it was cold outside. so i take the truck back out today and the same thing, the converter doesn't lock up and flashes when accelerating. i disconected the batt. for 30min and still the same. one thing i noticed different today was the temp was running hotter than normal during normal driving. got to 185 with normal driving. also i noticed when it got around that temp it started shifting really harsh and very hard out of every gear no mater what throttle position. i pulled a sample of trans fluid and it's darkish red with fine metal shavings/particles. i have around 5k miles on this built trans. probably going to take it to the shop where the tranny got built tomorrow. they gave me a 6 month waranty as long as it's not due to converter failure. any ideas on what it could be.
thanks in advance for yall help...

anyone?
i think it might be the converter breaking down and not locking up anymore. i drove it again this afternoon and it shifted fine even when the trans temp got to 190ish. i think that maybe when i broke the pump back in june, some particles might have gotten in the converter and it's starting to eat it away inside. i'm going to call tci tomorrow and see what they have to say.

Welcome to having a POS TCI converter

Thats what I had and had those same symptoms and the converter was gone. Eventually wouldnt move at all in forward or reverse. TCI sucks hardcore. I sent my verter to be rebuilt and it mysteriously got lost in the mail. I have never had anything lost in the mail and it was only like 200 miles from where I shipped it to TCI come on now.

See what the shop says. I had some tiny metal pieces in the fluid when my converter went but not very much.

Could you elaborate more on this please? Perhaps through PM's (sponsor) as I would like to know how this was rectified. I'm in the same boat as you guys, and I'm planning on sending it back to get rebuilt. I don't want the same experience you've had.

that's some f 'd up stuff about the converter getting lost in the mail. i'd be pissed. i talked to a rep and for starters they don't know **** about these lsx motors. he couldn't give me a straight answer on what he thought was the malfunction. hopefully the my tranny shop gets back to me soon so i can know if they think it's the converter or not. i do know tci charges $125 just to crack it open to see what the problem is + the cost of parts to fix.
