What is invovled in installing a shift kit and servos on a 4L60E? Am I going to HAVE to drop the transmission?

No, they can both be done with the trans in the truck. If you do a stall speed then you would have to drop the trans. Servos are easy, the shift kit is a little more difficult but doable if you have some mechanical aptitude.

just drop the pan. be sure you feel comfortable with your mechanical skills, overlooking the smallest detail will destroy that tranny. an afternoon and a six pack you should be able to get it done.

not to steal your thread or anything, but will a shift kit help prolong the life of a transmission when you have more power than stock? i have a 5.3 with 4L60E and i plan on doing cam and converter and all that on top of my exhaust, intake, and tune. just wondering if i need a shift kit or not with the added power. how much better are the shifts with a shift kit?

Did you have to use that word DESTROY? I was pretty confident until that. What could I overlook? I bought a transgo HD2. Will the instructions be pretty detailed?
