tranny temp gauge flashes 250
#1
i just installed a cyberdyne digital tranny temp gauge. all wires are hooked up properly and are secure. problem is it flashes 250. which is the high reading. i know my temps aren't that high since the truck has sat all day.
has anyone else that used this gauge know why it's doing this or is there something else i need to do. the paperwork isn't much help.

John check your sending wire under the truck to make sure it isnt touching the exhaust..
had the same thing happen to me where the guage would bounce all over the place when the wire touched, and melted the insulation on the exhaust

spoke with cyberdyne. purple wire on the unit must only be connected to a switched light source. or you can just leave it unhooked. eitherway, it works now. one thing is for sure, it takes the tranny a while to get up to operating temps.
