My mother has a 2005 Suburban and she is having tranny problems. The car has 40k on it now, but she has the extended warranty. The problem she is having is when she puts the car in reverse you can not feel it engage and then when you put the car in drive it free revs for a few moments then it goes. It is at the dealership now and they kinda know what is wrong however they are saying it might not be covered under warranty. the truck is bone stock. Do yall have any idea what might be causing the problem???

Naw she doesn't have any mods, the thing is bone stock and my mom is 60 so she is not hot roding it or anything. All that car sees is highway, barely any stop and go traffic. yeah the dealer is being a real *** about it. she really can't take it to another dealer cause they all ready have it apart, so it is stuck there for at least a week. This is my moms 3rd suburban, all were bought new and this one is a piece of S***. the last two lasted at least 250k+ each. I think the last two only had the trans replaced after like 120k. She is going to sell it after they get it fixed and get something else..... she has lost faith in Chevy......

I would think that the trans would be covered under her warrenty. It sounds like she might be having a problem with the low and reverse clutch. Maybe even a pressure problem. If they don't want to fix the problem do as dlh said and find another dealer.

My 05' Sierra does the exact same thing and it has bugged the **** outta me since I've had the truck. Trans shifts fine and only does this problem intermittently and to varying degrees. I have had it to the dealer, its been updated with the latest reflash and it still does it. They claim its a normal condition for my truck. I say BS...
Vince: In your opinion is this a common problem or normal condition with the 4l60's ?

Thanks for the advice, I will wait and see what they say. I don't think it is a common thing, I have a 2004 RCSB, my father has a 2004 ECSB, and my mom's 2005 Suburban. I think there is something wrong and the dealership is just being an ******* not wanting to fix or they don't know what is wrong. I think she should get a new tranny.... But in reality they will probably just Band-Aid the ****** and it will develop the same problem in a few months. That is why she wants to get rid of it.
I will update this thread after I hear more......

UPDATE
By removing the checkball for the low and reverse in the case it does increase the apply oil for the low and reverse piston. The check ball is there to restrict this oil and really is not needed. This is the correct reason for removing it. Sorry if I confused anyone here and thank you for making relearn why I do this again! LOL
