Default Tranny is getting closer to death **audio added**

For about the last 80,000 miles the only problem I've had is a little slippage during a WOT 3-2 downshift. However, more recently the tranny has a ticking sound after a cold start up, the 1-2 shift can be jolting at best, the 2-3 shift slips as well. And let's not forget that the TC sometimes will have a problem locking up after coming to a stop and going again.

At about 40,000 miles the trans was completly rebuilt thanks in part to a front pump seal going bad. And while the guy had to take it apart to fix it anyway, we went ahead and rebuilt it all under warranty.

The transmission has never lost a drop of oil, except for the front seal going bad, in 142,000 miles. It is still full and good to this day. The last service on the trans was ~60,000 miles.

I do have a transgo shift kit and corvette servos on hand that I bought 2 years ago but never installed. I know I'll need to go to a Beast sun shell, but what else should I replace other than the bands and filter?

Future plans include 400hp/400tq and from what I've understood so far is that a built 4l60e can handle that in a DD.

Thanks for the help.

Mike

Check out the parts that they put in to their built tranmissions (and sell separately).

One other thought, if I can pick up a 4l65e on the cheap, would it be worth it to R&R that instead?

not really there's not many differences... only the planetaries really. just put the 65E parts in your 60 case. they'll go right in.

Default Trans problems ** sound clip added**

any ideas what the ticking could be coming from?

It goes away after a few minutes and won't be heard again until the next cold start. That leads me to think that it's not motor related. The sound was recorded directly under the trans.

And for the sound clip, the first part is dedicated to Opie and Anthony and the last part is dedicated to the hot piece of *** I went to high school with. She was never this hot in school but was always very nice. Should have stayed in touch with her.
