This is depressing, I have only put about 6000 moderate miles on the truck and this setup didn't have many on it to begin with. I have even been runing stock tires. Got a feeling this awesome truck may be going up for sale soon

Whack a Trutrac in it and you'll be again.
I picked mine up from Nathan at Sadler Powertrain (think that's what they're called) for around $380 and installed it myself.
It's deffinately not a job for the feint of heart or mechanically challenged.
It IS worth doing though.
If you have fluid coming out...have a look at the cover and see if there are any holes.
Your diff may look like this:

DAMN!! Well it had a yukon 3.73 with Eaton LSD but for 380 and buying my friends some beer I think that deal sounds good. That is if it is the rear end.

Unfortunately no.
You'll be going from an 8.5" ring gear to a 9.5" ring gear.
If the 14bolt has a good centre...don't bother changing to the Trutrac. Just drive it and seee how it goes. I have only heard of a couple of damaged 14 bolt centres.
The one I have coming from Canada has a damaged throwout..or pin...so I got my buddy to buy me a Trutrac and stick it on the pallet with the 14bolt. Otherwise....I'd have stuck with the G80 in the 14.

i blew up my rearend and the tranny went out at the same time. my spider gears were in hundreds of tiny peices layin in the bottom of the diff. i ordered a locker fer a 8.5 but it didnt fit. supposedly disc brakes are a 8.625 rear so i went back stock. the new spiders from gm have bigger and less teeth than the original

I kind of figured as much. On the up side, maybe my gears and TruTrack won't be too hard to get a few $$$ out of on this site or ebay.. and I still have my stock 3.73's I could sell too.

I asked in another thread and don't mean to hijack this one but I have to ask. What 14 bolts do I need to look for in order to get a direct swap including brakes? Thanks, Jim

That I can't help you with. One thing I do know...if you have a 4wd you want a 4bolt from a 4wd as they are a little wider than the 2wd.
Not sure abot the differences from year to year.
I have a 98 4x4 Suburban. The 14bolt SF I have coming is from a 98 4x4 pickup and will be a direct swap.
I also plan on trying to sell my 10 bolt and Trutrac as they are extremely rare here.
