Tranny?
:bang:Took off from friends house Saturday and made it to a stop sign. When trying to drive away from stop the truck would not move. I put it in neutral and gaavee small rev and then back in drive. Sounded like some small grinding so then tried reverse which works intermittently. The truck will roll forward in neutral but not backwards. need to get this thing fixed quickly and correctly so all help is appreciated. The tranny is an FLT 4 with Yank 3K

Give Chuck a call asap, he will be the ONE to talk to.
|
how long have you had it.
|
I believe that 04LTSilverado bought Colby 04's old truck. Not sure how old the trans is but things happen. 04LTSilverado feel free to give Chuck or myself a call when you have time to discuss your situation. Vince

Sure it's the trany and not the diff?
|
Quite possibly the diff since it will not roll backwards. Will give calls out after work. Thanks guys!

Mine did the same thing....my immediate reaction was the trany had gone.
I didn't even think to check the diff. Imported, rebuilt and installed a 4L80E into my 98 K1500 Burb. Jumped in, started it up, put it in gear and 'crunch...crunch...crunch'..same noise as before the trany swap. DAMN IT!!!! Asked the wife "watch the tailshaft whilst I put the truck in gear...is it spinning?" Her answer "yes it is"....said like I'd be happy to hear that. Lol! "Damn it....I'm sitting still....it's not supposed to be". Lol! So...opened the diff...complete destruction of the G80! As it happened...I found something inside the 60E that wasn't supposed to be there so I suspect the diff blew and the trany went out in sympathy! Now I have a Trutrac in there...which is great, and 14bolt SF and trutrac on the way. |
Well I am leaking some fluid out of the rear and the draive shaft is spinning. Also noticed in my garage that there was a spot where my rear end would sit when parked. I guess I am a little more relieved but I'm sure it will still cost me some change. Anyone know someone that could work on this for cheap but still do good job? lol

A complete rebuilt diff with either OEM or performance parts should be under a $1,000. I had my front diff completely rebuilt (didnt need new gears, just bearings etc) for $560.
|
Last night I had mine towed to a shop. We could push it forward but it wouldn't roll backwards off the truck and wouldn't go forward or back under power. We dropped the drive shaft and it rolled backwards off the truck so it has to be the trans. Wish it was the diff.
