What upgrades are need to make a stock trany last with all the TM removed? Is a shift kit, and servo enough?? Also has anyone here rebuilt one themselves, how hare is it? I was thinking about getting a trashed one to learn on. Any opinions?

That is all I have in my current tranny and it seems to be holding up ok. For how much longer, I dunno but it has been in since Jan of 04. The first tranny went out shortly after removing tqm. Second tranny only had a servo and lasted less than a year. I put the transgo in a week after getting number 3.

Yup, is when your gas pedal feels like crap and seems to have no more gas!
I can't stand it when mine does it
,hopefully I'll be getting a tune soon to eliminate most of it!

well if you are planning on removing all tqm then the tranny is on it's own. every truck is different and every driver is different. most say that a shift kit and servos to increase the trannies ability to hold the gear without burning the clutches up. most i think that do not want to get that involved remove 80% of it and have great success with it. as for a built tranny. it can range from 1700.00 to 3500.00. depending on who is doing it and what all is done.

Like was said before it is a roll of the dice Allen has plenty of bonestock trannies that he has tunes that have no tm in them at all and are still fine buuuutt mine only lasted 20 miles so you have to decide the chance you wan to take.
