Default torque convertor opinions

Finally got enough money to get the tranny built up. Only thing is i was thinking about going with a 3200 stall convertor from yank. But my mechanic is saying the stall is way too big for the 3.90 gears i have and 224-228 cam i am running. What do yall think i should do? will I be better off with something smaller such as a 2600 stall? is there any other brands that are worth looking at also. Keep in mind my goal is to run the truck on the track and street. Also my goal is low 12's

if you are going to spray i recommend the 3200! F a 2600-2800 converter they are only good for a Boosted motor not a N/A, Nitrous motor, Procharger

my truck picked up half a second going from a TT3000 to a ss3600 (yank) . i would get the ss3600 . it had a 2.5 str i think so it was pretty tight for cruising . but once you put it to the wood. it woudl flash 3600 exactly

my first old motor setup wasa 5.3 full bolt ons with a 224/228 cam and 3.73 gears. and a PBlvl2

second motor was a l92 with a 230/242 cam . converter absolutely loved that motor ( no really ) the truck screamed!

X2, with a 224/228 cam in a 5.3, a 3600 or larger stall would be ideal to obtain the best track times.

That setup would love our 245mm converter. Flashing to about 3600 or so. But that is a small converter and will be a little loose for a true DD. Not that it can not be done, add a big cooler and there should be no problems, just will take some throttle to get it moving. We also offer our 278mm 3200 stall. A good conservative option. So it really depends on how much of a race truck you want to make it.

i went from a 1.82 60' to a 1.77 60' (spinning) from my Circle D 278mm 3200 (flashed about 3400) the PI3600 (9.5") i have now is for a car...it is not DD friendly imo. it gets crappy gas mileage in city but track wise it dropped .3 with just a converter swap and kept the same mph. ill be in the market to either rebuild my converter through PI to get a triple disc so i can lock it or through Circle D. it basically comes down to the rebuild price and if it'll drive like i want but flash like i want for track use.

if you want a converter thats towable "if ever needed" i would stay 10.5" or bigger. the smaller converter is for a track driven truck that is used simply to drive and race. i personally want a truck that reacts good at the track but is a little easier to DD simply bc its a true DD.

pick what you can stand vs just guessing or settling.
