Default tire wheel weight/height vs. performance

I have been debating for a long time which tire to pair up with the 20s i Just bought. It is between a 265/50/20 or a 285/50/20. Since I have a nnbs truck I think the 285/50 would fill up the fenders better. Here is the delimma. The wheel and tire combo I had on my last truck weighed about 85 pounds and killed my performance. If I replace the stock combo on my truck (steel 17s with 245/70/17) that is 30.5" tall and weighs about 66 lbs with say a combo using the 285/50/20s that weigh and 8-10 lbs more and are a little less than an inch taller would I notice a huge difference. The truck has the 5.3 and 3.73. thanks!

8-10 lbs x 4 = 32-40 lbs... 4L60E? yeah... i would think you could notice it. but not to much... the question is what is more important, show or go?

I run 285/50-20's on JGP's in the summer and 275/70-16's on the factory aluminums in the winter and I can feel a definite difference, both in performance and brake feel. (they're just about the same height, but the combo with the 20's is heavier) It performs much better on the 16's but looks so much better on the 20's lol.
