Default thinking of putting a cage in

I was thinking of putting a cage in and wanted to know how do you do the bars through the back window and to the frame? I think the new window is laxan, but how do you get the bars through and seal from the outside (rain and all) do you bolt the rear bars to the frame or weld them? I know you need a cage after 11.49 but what cage do you need 4-6-8-10 point? I like the race look, and if I ever learn to drag race a 6 speed I don't see why the truck couldn't get into the high10's or mid 11's with the power the truck is making. If not now, maybe after future mods and some driving lessons. J/K

Do some searches for NHRA rules. Not sure if bolting is legal??? One thing that would be cool is if you could keep the rear glass and have a glass company cut the hole instead of going lexan. Lexan looks like :****: after a couple of years.

here are a few pics of my set up. it looks prety good if you dont look at it too close. taking the bars thru real glass would be cool but things move around a lot and i dont know if you could keep it from breaking. i have driven in the rain and didn't get any leaking but a drive thru car wash gets a fair amount of water thru the window.

Yeah, I imagine you would have to have at least 1/4" clearance around the bar and maybe a little well applied silicone. Your's looks good Parish. Is that paint brush on?

prolly the best thing to do would be to take the back glass out and fill it in to go back with a smaller glass that way the bars could come thru metal instead of glass....just a thought i may try something like this with mine

That was great info with the pics and all. Thanks I am looking at doing a six point set up. I would like to run a tinted or smoked laxan back window. I really like the way they did your set up Parish. What is the average cost for the cage set up and install? I am just trying to figure out how much this is going to cost me... The wife is not going to like this.. Thanks again..

Ok! I did a search and I think I only need a 5 point roll bar untill 9.99's is the fith point the center cross bar of the roll bar? Correct me if I am wrong please. I am thinking of doing a set up like slowprocess except with straight bars. I was thinking of doing the door bars and roll bars, instead of going out of the back window to the frame. This would be a 5 point right? They are really cracking down on modified vehicals around here, and I think the bars going to the back is a dead giveaway. They look for modifications and then pul you over and looks for emissions tampering, I dont want to give them a reason to look. I looked at the nhra website and it didn't specify witch way you had to go. It just said a 5 point roll bar or cage. Please help!
