Default tested the toyo proxy st side wall strength

Proxy claim the have a stiff reinforced side wall to help protect the rim, called curb savers. I have bumped curbs at low speed going through drive thru windows and have never hit the rim. Today I put it to the test on accident.
I was making a right hand turn from one road to another going around 8 mph. It was a narrow road and there was an on coming car. So I had to cut it tight. Bang the right rear hit the curb, bottomed out the truck and kicked it in the air a little. I have billet aluminum Billet Specialties rims. At $675.00 a rim I almost started to cry. I pulled in to the next parking lot and slowly walked around to see how bad it was. The tire had a good rub mark about eight inch's long and a couple deep scraps, but no a mark on the rim.
My tires are 1 1/2 wider than the rim. I am going to go have it balanced to make sure it didn't bend the rim. I did want to be the test dummy for this, but o-well. I have had the proxys for about three years and have liked them very much. Now I love them

Do you mean 1.5" wider (one and a half inches) wider?
