Default TC Bolts too long or?

Hey guys,

So I am mating my lq4 to 4l80 and I have a SFI approved flexplate and Circle D verter. Anyways mating it together and the bolts seem like they are VERY close to the back oh the engine. Are the stock bolts the right ones to use? Also the flexplate does not use a spacer of any kind correct?

Thanks!

Yeah problem is I bought it off another member. So I will need to score some then. Anyone have a link because I can't seem to find some more low profile? Might just call Chris then tomorrow otherwise.

I would be happy to supply you with some bolts, no problem there. But I would like to know more about what flexplate you are using and what is the bolt pattern on the converter? Can you take a few pics or get us some part numbers? Something does not sounds right on the flexplate side.

Any grade 8 or 10 m10x1.5 x20 or 25mm should work fine. Just make sure the head isnt too tall...I used the ARPs once and they ended up hitting the rear cover bolts.

I had this problem going from v6 to v8 my stock convertor bolts wouldn't work with my yank. I just ordered arp and was done with it. Mine were about a half centimeter to long or close to that.

Thanks guys!
Well its not a bolt issue. My converter was not in far enough, and apparently I cannot count clunks! There is an entirely different issue going on involving too much space from the FP to the converter. Here is what I have:

2005 lq4/4l80e
Circle D 1a Multidisk
SFI three bolt pattern FP

With everything bolted together I am off from the pads of the converter to the face of the FP. Anyone have any ideas? Am i missing a spacer or possibly have the wrong FP? does not make sense to me...

clunks is not how you install a converter. there is a measurement that needs to be taken from the bellhousing to the converter pads. Clunks is how you ruin a transmission.
