Default TB Stall is in! :)

Hey guys, got my TB stall in today, have a few questions. The thing out of the box break stalled to 1800, this is lower than I expected. Now Ive read that it might 'loosen up'? The guy selling the TB stalls on ebay said 2500+, is this realistic behind my 4.8? Also I remember one post, forget exactly who, said they had a 2600 that only stalled to 1800 before it was used a bit. Im hoping mine will line itself out, if not than I see another in the near future. Let me know what you think. Ohh, and from a roll it does good, but from a stomp its a bit sluggish with my cam.

Later,
Crunk

For that cam you should have gotten a 3200-3400

When i had a TB in mine it would only brake stall to about 2000-2100 so i would say that its doin about what it is gonna do on that 4.8L
If i flashed it then it went to about 2600 but brake stall was much weaker on it.
Now i ahve a TT2600 and it brake stalls and flashes to 2600 like its supposed to.

I keep reading about a converter "breaking in". The day my Trailblazer converter was installed it would brake or flash stall to about 2500 and nothing has changed in the last 2000 miles.

Granted, that is behind a 5.3 in a very heavy vehicle.

Just my $.02.

Well, this is my problem, I realize that break stall is lower than flash, but the truck, when I stomp it from a stop, seems to bog down, even if I break stall it up to 1800, then hit it, the RPMS drop down low, then the power comes in slowly until it gets up to around 2500. IS this what happens when the cam is too big and the stall is too small? Do the RPMs drop BACK down? I figured it would just be a little sluggish. It did the same thing with my stock converter. So basically, I dont mind if the converter doesnt stall as high as expected, but i need to figure out, is it falling off like that because it doesnt stall to the cams power range? It seems to be fine from any type of rolling start. Also, I havent installed my pacesetters yet, could that be causing the bog? Other than that hesitation off the line, the truck is running strong, made a few passes on the gtech, its saying that my speed at the end of a 1/4 is 95-96, but the times are off because of the launch.

i agree with 1slow. too small of a converter for the cam/motor size. ATLEAST a 3000 torque converter IMO. the trailblazer is a great converter though. my tb stall actually tightened up after a few miles.

What you are describing is a prime example of too big of a cam with too small of a converter you need ATLEAST a 3200 to take full advantage of that cam. I ran a 3200 with my 5.3 and a tad larger cam.
