Man things have changed a lot in the last couple of years. It used to be a lot more difficult to get a 6 speed in these trucks. I love the 6 speed on my wife's suburban so I'll be replacing the 70e in my Vmax with one too. I'd like to have the tap shift though.

Getting ready to do a 6l swap in my 08 silverado. Just wondering how the true blue conversion is. Is it worth the extra money rather than doing the modified harness?

Yes it’s worth the extra money for plug and play convenience. Makes things cleaner and easier. It can obviously be done without it, I mean mine is still running about 20k miles later with 0 problems. But if you can put in a few extra hours at work every other day and pay for the TBMS kit it’s a no brainer.

So i have decided to do it with a new harness. When it comes time to flash it do i have to flash the ECM with a VIN of the same year truck that came with a 6spd, or does the VIN need to match the transmission? The trans is out of a 2010 escalade. Also can i just use a Tech2 to do the flash with the AC Delco software. My tuner is going to use HP Tuners to tune it and has access to a Tech2.

From what I was told you need to match the OS number of what your stock ecm is with one that came with a 6s. I looked under GMC Sierra with a 6.2 to find one with same OS

I'm about to put a 5.3 6l80 combo in to my 99 z71 tahoe. I wasnt going to keep the 4wd but I see here there is an adapter that mates the 6l80 to the np246 transfer case?

Getting ready to do my 5.3 with lsa blower 07 tahoe 4x4. I’m going to swap the input on the 246 over to the 4l80e input which is the same as the 6l80e 32 spline vrs the 27 spike for the 4l60e stuff. I build trans and t cases for a living and splitting the case to do this is easy. I’ll have a part number to post up soon so it’s on the net for others.
Guy that did this on other 4x4 you just get front and rear shafts from another 6l80 tahoe Yukon Escalade setup?

Is there a better thread on this? Maybe someone has done a write up on how they went about doing this swap? Googling brings me to threads like this. Would like to try this on my 05 an retain my 4wd.

For the transfer case just get the 4l80e 32 spline it’s a drop in on most cases that had the 27 spline for 4l60e all the way back to 1999. One difference can be the bearing thick or thin in that case can just shim up where the snap ring goes. Any questions pm me I work on trans for a living and build these cases all the time.
Drive shafts and mount on a 4x4 is the same as the 6l80e is about 1/8 inch of the 4l60e length.

My question is now wiring up the trans. Better to go with a factory GM harness from an 2008 6.2 6l80e combo or buy someone’s adapter? Mines an 07 with e38 I have my hptuners and I have a GM mdi2 with tis access. The dealership harness is 240 bucks so not expensive at all. But if someone had an adapter or a way to pin in the new connector that’s going to be a little easier then a full harness swap. I even went with a 2007 transmission so my tcm was going to be the right one with os as we sell these where I work and know you cannot just take a 2010 and throw a tcm on it from a early and make it program right. So was hoping by getting the correct early unit and I am building it anyway with red clutches and updated drum and sonnax piston so didn’t matter if I did early or late. We do a **** ton of these so know the failure points. Sonnax has a nice pump update too for them I did. My tahoe has a lsa blower on 14 psi and makes a bunch of torque and going to tow so wanted this over others especially the 4l80e which is a big heavy turd when it comes to eating up hp and mileage. Going to tow my 2017 zl1 to the track when go distances so wanted the best of both with this paid off tahoe. Lol
