Default t56 guys come on in!

lets talk auto manual swap stuff. first off what t56 are you useing and what clutch do have to go with it. have you broke anything on your setup yet? and what truck do you have it in? so far it looks like the gto and ssr t56's would be the best setup. the ssr (m10) has a 3.01 1st gear and a 32tooth spline output shaft. but i don't think there are as many of them and i read where some guys on tech were saying that the input on it was longer.

off topic what does a stock torque converter weigh? i looked can't find it.

Ive got a built camaro t56 with a spec stage 3 clutch. The only part i have broke so far is the cheap *** plastic ears that hold the master cylinder onto the pedal assembly. I cut this off and remade it out of 2.5'' exhaust pipe and some 1/8'' plate. I suggest going ahead and doing this from the get go. Other than that I have managed to ruin 2 sets of tires in less than a yearI got about 1800 bucks in the swap but its worth it imo.

wow thats a cheap swap. i've read others having the same problem with that plastic thing. one member said they had a cad design to fix that i may have to hit them up on it. i'm going from awd to 2wd has anybody done that yet?
also will the zo6 trans bolt in? or would you have to change the tail housing? it has a 32 spline output shaft and a 2.97 1st gear.

Its been said many times b4, 4.56 or lower gears are a must so keep a gear swap on the bugit. That wasnt included in my price swap.I give 1500 bucks for a built t56,then stole a clutch off ebay for 200,then a pedal assembly from junk yard with master for 50 then 50 for a vette slave.Did all of the install myself. It took me a full weekend to pullthe 4.8 auto and install the 6 speed and lq9.

there is some info in the RST write up in my sig. after like page 3 or 4.
but my tranny is a built camaro t56. i still have my 3.73 in the rear. i like them but i will probably go to a 4.10 gear soon. with the 3.73's i run bout 1600rpms at 80mph. my tune is jacked right now so i dont have and gas mileage numbers to give other than i took a road trip not too long ago and was runnin 75-80 for bout 500 miles and pull an average of 20mpg.

why 4.56's or lower though? the gto trans has a 2.97 first gear to get going then all others are the same. if you swap to low of a gear in you kinda kill the over drive effect. no? i went to a few gear web sites and with my 3.73's the rpm drop between gears would be pretty good from first to second it drops to like 4150rpm with a 6000-6100 shift. and from 2nd to 3rd at like 4200 or 4300 can't remember. but it was better than my a4 with the tt3000 in it. with my 6100rpm shift now from 1st to 2nd drops to 3800rpm maybe lower but it looked like 3800. i plan on shorter tire in my future too. like 275/60r17's they looked like a nice size. after a 3" drop.

red thanks, i check out your write up.

I run a 29'' tall rear tire and my rpm's in 6th running 65 are somewhere around 1500-1600.The truck has decent power to pull a hill without shifting to 5th.I think with a 3.73 your engine will be pulling ??1200+or- rpm.Threfore bogging when you give it the gas.Im not saying your gears wont work,I think you will pull harder wirh 4.56's and still get decent mpg Jmo.

ok i see what your saying that is using fbody ratios. i was going by gto ratios.
i guess more than first gear is different. with a .8/.62 5th and 6th vise .74/.5 of the fbody.
