Default Stock 1/2 ton rear end to 14 bolt

Hello,
I have a '98 Chevy k1500 with a stock rear end. I want to buil it into a "weekend warrior" type off-road rig. I want to replace my stock rear axle and front differential with a 14 bolt rear axle with a lower gear range and a matching front differential. Besides the new axle and front diff, what else will I need to make it work? Will a 4l60e be enough to make it work, or will I NEED to upgrade to a 4l80e? Maybe just a 4l60e heavy duty rebuild? Different drive shaft lengths? Reprogram my ecu? Hoping to find s matching set from a similar year. Any ideas and help?
Thanks
