Get it on a lift. Prybar or something. Pry on things. Nothing should move. AT ALL. Grab the wheels and try move them around. Check your tires. Uneven wear inside to outside or cupping on either edge are indications of alignment.

Best way to check ball joints is to get the front end off the ground (like on jack-stands) so the front wheels are hanging. Next put a floor jack under one control arm at a time, to take the weight off of the wheel...leave a few inches between the wheel/tire assembly and the ground. Now put a pry bar under the tire and pry upwards and check for play...rinse and repeat on the other side.
