Default Stall Questions

Will a stall help the dismal 1-2 shift in a 4L60/65/70? I'm spoiled to the close ratios of the 4L80 once you get rolling. Don't get me wrong, 1st gear feels great, but the truck dies when shifting to second. I was wondering if a 2600-2800 stall would help keep my rmp's up during a WOT 1-2 shift. I'm sure a tune to rid some of the TM would help the feel some also.

yes, of course. A properly stalled torque converter will help keep you in the power-band at a shift.

A TT3000 works well even in a completely stock truck, I drove a truck that was BONE STOCK other than that converter and it felt 100x better

Is a TT3000 a little much (stall wise) if I'm gonna run a radix or TVS on the LQ9? Also, would it be too weak in a boosted application?

Yeah, I'd go with about a 2800 converter with a Billet front, either PI or Yank... It'll cost you a little more but you won't have to worry about it.

A shift kit/servos and stall will help tremendously, with no TM and a quality tune of course.

With my 2800 stall PI, shifting at WOT 1-2 my RPMs drop to 4000-4100, and at WOT 2-3 they drop to 4200-4300.

Keep in mind that you will need to upgrade the stock trans cooler when adding a high stall TC.
