Default Stall Converters w/ a 4x4

I have a 01 GMC 1500HD CCSB 4x4 and Im considering putting a stall in it. My question is what is a good size to have for a mild cam and still not affect the 4x4 or offroadability of it.

Exactly how do stalls work? Do they hurt the tranny? I use the truck as a truck as well as a play toy so I dont want to hurt anything as far as using it as a truck. Also how is towing with a stall?

I was thinking about a 2000 stall but Im not sure.

Nahhhh go 3000 I hadn't tried it in the mud yet but I bet it'll be fun. Hurry home, and we'll find out Seriously, I'd try to find something about 2500. I'll let you drive mine, its not too bad.

I've got a Vig 2400 in my Tahoe (no cam) with no problems. I also tow semi-regularly so I wanted to keep a reasonably low stall. I've got about 15K on it (157K total on vehicle) along with an FLT rebuild trans with Trans-go shift kit. If you are going with a higher stall, I would suggest the transgo kit as well as it tightens up the shifts.

Overall, I love mine and would not hesitate to do it again.

what kind of offroading do you do? Stall are awsome for mud if you go for the big HP tire spinning aproch but stalls suck for the crawling aproch offroad in my 84' with a build SBC and 7004R I run a semi tight 2200

Then you can get away with a higher stall. I had my TCI 3000 in my truck and the road to our deer camp had some deep muddy ruts and I was pullin g a 16foot low boy trailer with 800#s of corn two deer feeders and a double wide box stand on it and when I start to get stuck the extra rpms the stall gave me IMO kept me from getting stuck cause the truck would rev sooooo much easier.

By the time I got to the camp everything was covered in mudd but hey it adds to the camoflauge look.

Jsut make sure you get a "tight" stall convertor. A loose one would suck!
