Default stall converter questions.

ive done some searching and cant seem to find anythign that compares to my set up. i have a 2003 sierra 1500 ecsb z71 with 33's and 3:73. im am gunna be putting a 6.0l in it shortly, the only mods that are gunna be done to it is a black bear tune, long tube headers and the banks monster cat back that i already have. now my question is would i gain anyhtign by putting a higher stall in my truck? i still do moderate towing and its a dd. if so which brand would u recomend, what stall speed, and who sells this brand? thanks you very much for your time.

Absolutely you will gain from a torque converter. Since you do moderate towing I would recommend a 2800ish stall speed. Its enough to make it worth while, but not too high to make it annoying. Be sure to get a larger aftermarket cooler.

Yank, PI, and Circle D are the most popular here, and all are good.

You will probably want a cam soon after you put it in though...

Stall is the single most fun mod you can do IMO. I would go with Yank or Circle D, either can set you up with something that will work great for towing yet still yield good performance gains.

Really not much changes at all in the tune. Pulse width modulation is eliminated by set it to minimum 99 and max 100. You'll want to set the lockup speed higher than stock because these aftermarket converters lock up very hard and it can be annoying with it unlocking and locking while driving in the street.
