just found a 2007 4l80 out of a classic 2500HD (running and driving truck) with 4 digit mileage that I'm picking up Friday if all goes well. It's 1000 bucks but I get everything, flywheel, converter, sensors, yoke, shift linkage, dipstick and tube..... anything else I need to ask for? haha

Yeah....make sure you get the shift cable bracket. It's different to the 60E bracket.

I am looking to do this soon just getting all of the parts together.
One question I have is with the cross member, can we use a cross member out of a new body style truck that has the 4l80e it insted of having to fab one up ? I would think that it would be a direct bolt on .

6l90e

The 4l80e swap doesn't work well in the NNBS from what I've seen. A member here did it and he's still got electrical problems I think.

Tranny was a bust, low miles late model unit with a bent output shaft from the drivetrain being shoved back from a head on collision, the slip yoke was shoved into the tailshaft and they couldn't get it off. think they cracked the case as well... oh well, the search continues.
