Default So it's been a year since I removed my tranny...

What's the long cable with the 4wd tag for? Don't say 4wd!! I never had shiftable 4wd -- it was full time AWD.

Also, what's the threaded end on the shaft that sticks through the neutral safety switch for? Is there a nut that's supposed to go there? And why? lol

that shaft is the selector for the gears on the trans. yes a 15mm head nut went there that held the cable

that cable i bet has a sqaure opening on it that goes to the shaft you spoke of. it says 4wd cause of the lenght that was needed. my truck used to say 2wd.. AWD/4wd had similar parts thus same cable

Yeah sounds like your gear selector cable. Threaded shaft then the neutral safety switch slides over it. Held with with two bolts, then the gear shift lever with a 15mm nut.

Sorry, Kind of blurry. Looking up and rearward of tranny.
