I blew a trans line off my truck last tuesday on the way home from class made for a heck of a smoke show but as soon as it happened I got over and killed it everything seems fine so far. Ya that squirrel would have been all I could have taken.

Vince, I'm looking forward to getting one of your Level 5's in a couple of months, I've driven tdrumm's truck with his FLT trans and it's solid Going to go with a new Yank TT3000 tc.

Any idea what happened? I'm guessing that the torque converter took a dump and blew chunks throughout the trans? Then I revved the snot out of it to limp to a parking lot, and spun the **** out of the pump, raising the pressure and blowing the line off, and later blowing the dipstick out of the tube once the line was ultra-tightened on. I could be waaaay off, this is just my guess. Whatever happened, the truck is idle for a while.

The other hypothesis is that the line blew off first, pumped the fluid out of it causing it to slip like crazy and smoking the clutches.

You and that damn pellet rifle

When I lost my pump last week I lost all forward and reverse; just stopped going. I had park and 5 neutrals, lol. I had to take the ride of shame on the rollback

Yeah, forgot he was 2wd! Us 2wd guys have a lot less issues....but looking back I would prefer 4wd!

Anyways, just browsing car-part, I found a 2005 4l80e with 555 miles on it for $1000. What are typical prices for used 80es?

Wow Billy! I got your pm but you didn't mention the injector part too. I would have grabbed that sucker by the tail and flung it against a tree.

Too bad this happened tight before winter, or else I'd lend you the Grand Prix to get around in.

I remember how bummed I was when my trans went, and then the truck sat for almost a year until I could afford a new one. Keep your chin up!
