What makes one shock better than the other? (Edlebrocks vs. Bilstein) Construction, ride handling, price etc.? These 2 seem to be the choice of many truck guys here. If price was the same...which would everyone choose?

Again my vote goes to Bilstein. I had them on my last ride and put nearly 160,000 miles on them and they still rode nice. Most people thought I was full of it when I said how long they had been on the truck because they rode so nice. (of cousre the 160,000 miles were in less than 3 years)

Another site I am a member of really like the Monroe Reflex shocks. One guy really hates Bilstein (there is one in every crowd). The Monroes are probably a lot cheaper if money is a factor and are probably a good choice if all out performance is not your goal. The Sensa-tracs are good if you want a more comfortable ride.
When I bought my drop kit I asked McGaughys about shocks and they recommended to stay with the stockers.
Just a couple of more options for you.

I have the Edlebrock IAS shocks on my truck with a 2/4 and i personally dont like them, they feel too mushy to me at times and too firm at other times, and i bottom out too much (but that seems to be a common prob with the NBS and 4" rear drop), i would go with the Bilsteins

KYB makes a very good shock also, that is what I have on my truck. Another alternative to think about.

I just bought a set of the IAS and a Hotchkis TVS kit. Everything is being shipped right now and will let you know the results when it's on

I like the KYB as well and agree with this statement
