Default Shift manual TC under load

2016 Silverado 1500 5.3, Whipple, cam, some head work, headers. Guessing 500ish RWHP. I plan to go to the track and take advantage of the 4wd for launch. The idea of shifting to 2wd under WOT gives me a stomach ache. I know folks do it with the electric shift boxes. Wondering if it’s safe to shift manually (except for bending down with my foot on the floor) or should I just leave it in 4wd.

The issue is it puts a lot of stress on the shift fork. If you want to very quickly shift with your foot off the gas go for it, otherwise keep it in 4wd or set the truck to run as a 2wd.
