Well, after the trans shop having my truck for 12 weeks, Ive called it quits. I'm just buying a new trans.
The bell hosing bolts where heilcoiled and cross treaded, needed to be redone. The valve body was all stock beside the TCC choda had replaced, and the hole for the 2-3 shift. No shift kit or anything, bores where all marked up.
basically this is a parts trans as it does have some good parts in it, it better for all the money choda and I have into it. RPM transmission here I come.

Did you get your converter back from the refresh?

After having an RPM Level 7 and subsequently broke it, RPM blamed me, the consumer who paid a bunch of money for it and paid to have it put in.

I would never buy another RPM transmission again.

I would do an 80e swap before anyone's 60e again.

60e's will break, no matter who builds them. As long as they are put behind a heavy *** truck with bigger motors, power adders, bolt-ons, etc. they will break. Throw all the hard parts you want at it, it will still break, eventually.

Converter is back in and locks up now but still will slips when under the right conditions, the surging is gone but will be back once it burns up the clutches again.
a 60e should hold up to my 7 mile round trip of daily driving.
I still have the 80e in the barn, but as of now its not in the cards.
I bought a new bike for me and my ol lady, all we really want to do is ride, the turbo truck may be back up for sale soon.
find something basic and be able to toss the bikes in the back and go.

really sucks hearing. That damn thing has caused me so many issues, I dont blame you for throwing the towel in on that whole transmission and Transbuilder guy.

Take a look at Performabuilt transmissions. They are in PA. A couple local camaro guys have used them with luck. I think its a toss up between RPM and Performabuilt. Call and talk to each, im sure both are willing to help. If you are doing the swap yourself, give me a holla, I'll come help.

saw this post pop up and was hoping you got everything straight, My buddy is on his 3rd transbuilder 60e in a factory cammed 5.3 Colorado. First two "built" trans went out in 350 miles and lost all forward gears. 3rd trans seems to be working, but hes having weird lock up issues and hes scared to get down on it.

That sucks to hear. I say take a break from the truck then swap in that 80e. Its not a really hard swap at all if you get the parts lined up before hand.

My junkyard 4L85E is still going strong and I beat the absolute crap out of it in a heavy Express van with a very strong running 350.

I had a plug wire burned by my headers cause a misfire that made the converter unlock towing and not having a tach I never noticed the unlocked converter. Still towing along in OD the fluid got HOT. I ended up cooking the cooler line between the trans and radiator and melted the rubber orings in both quick connects. I ended up having to replace the line and replaced the plug wires that was keeping the converter unlocked then flushed the fluid, changed the filter and it has been trouble free since. The fluid was so hot it melted the fan shroud when it sprayed onto it! The rubber line in my had was crimped between two sections of metal line and pulled right off in my hand with a very light tug.
