Other's have said that they lockup their Yank, so I tried it. I suggest to others DO NOT TRY IT!! I will not be trying that again. (and my truck is slow....) TFT's never went over 175.

Those are hot spots from the converter clutch slipping. Dave told me that he uses that paint specifically because it changes color with heat, so he can tell if the converter clutch has been abused before teardown.

Did u tell Dave what u did? Perhaps he knows already.
Clever, I wondered why converter co's had different colors. So, it's not only a recognition this color is that brand. Slick.
Just get a Circle D!!! U can lockup theirs @ WOT!
Oh, you're not slow. In the head, maybe.

every Yank I've ever pulled has had a bit of discoloration on the front cover but never could tell it by the way it locked... I'd say that is excessive though. I'd definitely have it cut and a new clutch slapped in it.
I really like Yanks products and have had great luck with them but from my expreirnces with numerous converters and setups, get a GOOD QUALITY multi disk unit if you are wanting to lock it up under power.

It shipped out yesterday for cut/clean/clutch. I'm not taking any chances here, seems like the clutch was still working just fine, but with the 3-4 clutches not holding at all, I couldn't lock/check the converter clutch to test it. The tranny fluid was still clean & pink, but smelled like clutch material.
At any rate, I probably won't see my converter back for a few weeks, so I have a few days to decide if I wanna change my setup. Maybe somebody local wants a new Yank SC3000...

Seriously, I know you're up there, & IDK who's pickin up shipping cost(s), but well decision time & u don't wanna decide after incurring shpg 2x I'm sure...u know your options. I'm curious on how this is gonna play out.
