Russel braided stainless brake lines??

Default Russel braided stainless brake lines??

Hey guys,

I wasnt quite sure where to post this but i figured i'd get some hits here.. I did some searching but couldnt find the answer i was looking for either.. I just bought the 5 brake line russel kit for my 2001 silvy(4 wheel disc) and i thought i remembered reading somewhere that the washers that come it the kit corrode or something like that and will begin to leak over time? Is there any truth to this? There was no bolts in the kit so i guess i use my original bolts.. If yall could shed some light on the washers supplied with the kit, and also if yall have any installation tips for these lines all help is appreciated..

From what I remember hearing just get some of the stock copper washers from GM.

I used the ones included in the kit on my 04 several years ago and have not had any issues...

well it seems like yall have had good luck with the ones in the kit.. I dont live up north where there is alot of road salt and stuff anyway so i may just use the ones in the kit and let it ride.. I know the front hoses will be straight forward but are the rear hoses a pain to change? The instructions that cam with the kit arent too great.

You may have to remove the spare tire for better access. There is a line that goes from the frame rail to a T-block on the axel. Then you should have two lines, one for each wheel. I have the Goodridge 5 line kit installed in about 4 hours. than another 45min for bleeding the breaks. Make sure to keep an eye on the break fluid level. Dont let it get to low.

yeah i figured even though its just brake lines it would probly be kinda time consuming swapping them all out.. did yall swap all 5 lines at one time and then bleed or did yall swap front 2, then bleed.. and then rear 3 and bleed? i dont really guess it would matter but the less amount of air i keep in the system might make them all easier to bleed..

All at the same time. When you bleed the breaks you have to start from the farthest wheel moving to the closest wheel. So it will be passenger rear, drivers rear, passenger front, drivers front. I had to fill the reservoir twice per wheel. But I never let it get below half.

How much does this help the brakes? Just firm the peddle up a little im guessing?

Ok thanks for all the help guys..

Supposedly this is the best thing you can do for squishy brake pedal other than hydroboost.. ill let you know in a couple days.
