AAMs are the quietest gears by far. But as far as power wise, they all seem to hold up the same.

My brother has had 2 different sets of richmond gears and he has had real good luck with them. He is runnin a 4.56 right now and they dont make a sound. Another thing is that he never had to re-shimm either set. They bolted right in with stock shimms and lined up perfect. I'm sure that wont happen every time but mabe i'd be lucky too lol

AAM's are the best IMO, as GMCtrk mentioned, they are OEM. If they don't have AAM's in your size, I'd go with Yukons first, or maybe Motives second. I've heard of some slight noise from Yukons, but no operational issues Tyler (dirt track racer 81) has used Motives many times from what I've read here, and he never seems to have a problem.

I'm not sayin they're no good but i'm not sure that the OEM gears are all they're cracked up to be because my parents had an Escalade with factory 4.10's and they whined around 50 55ish... But anyways i think i'm gonna go with the Motives and call it good.

I've had richmonds and motives. I recently broke the pinion gear of the motives when my truck hooked hard at the track. Basically broke the teeth off. That didn't stop me from buying another set. They were in the rear for a long time and were relatively quiet.

Most people set gears up wrong and blame noise on the gear... While some are inherently noisier than others, its a small difference and usually can't be heard over most of our loud-*** exhaust systems. Noise is USUALLY setup related and a lot of times its the pinion that causes it. I've installed a set of 4.56s and 4.88s from Rons and both have been great.

I'm planning on some 4.56s for my build from Rons.

Any name-brand, USA Made Gear will do fine. I can't speak for Ron's as I am not familiar. BTW, OP, if $200 is too much for a ring and pinion then leave your truck alone. Good stuff isn't cheap, and cheap stuff isn't good.

That said, AAM gears will be the most quiet as they are cut for for noise reduction. That is why they are recommended for cars, SUVs, and vans. All aftermarket gears are cut more for strength.

Lastly, a proper install will grant you a quiet running problem free gear set 99.99% of the time.
