The way I looked at it and for my set-up the 10" was the preferred length that would put the shock travel in the 'sweet spot' so-to-say, and I don't have any experience with the 8" so I guess I don't have much to go on just my opinion.

Basically what you said plus getting better shock travel, more shock travel = better ride.

And ditching sprung/un-spring weight is always a good thing with these heavy *** trucks

Didn't check what? I'm confused

What I was getting at was that He (the one that told you they didn't go past 800) didn't do his research thoroughly on the different spring rates.

maybe I missed it, but could you share your full front end specs.

I'm looking to get these but would only want say a 2" drop in the front from stock ride height.

Check the springs length and spring rate from what he posted.

I'll post of my thoughts and results once I get these on.

Sure no problem

Right now I'm lowered 5" with the Coil-overs and Mcgaughy's 16"+ drop Spindles

So with stock spindles and the same Coil-overs it would be a 3" drop and you would be able to crank them up to 2", BUT it could possibly 'top out' if you go too far up, as it is close to the full extended length of the shock.

Ok gotcha, not trying to come off on the wrong foot here, just trying to help as much as possible.

No offense taken, this is an educational thread, all info needs to be posted, rather opinion or fact, will help others in the future. I only take his word because he has done several builds for people, but I've always heard the longer the shock and spring you can run the better your ride would be, at least in theory.

Exactly, that's the reason I started this thread!

And thats the same school of thought I use too, and from what I've read over the net and experienced myself, it seems to support that theory.

I may have missed it, but did you use stock bolts or drill out and go bigger? From a glance they look oem size.
