Someone please guide me on how to get these things back on...it seems to me like i need too much to turn the keys its almost 90 degrees rotation...is that normal???

 

i wouldnt say quite 90 but its close maybe 120. yes thats normal, im guessing you have a gear puller if you got them off, so just unscrew the puller and put it back on like you had it when you took them out, and start crankin. this is where an impact or a long cheater bar with a buddy helping you keep it goin. when you get the key far enough past the crossmember to slide the big nut the bolt goes in just put the bolt back in and screw it in until the pressure is fully off the pulley, then do the other side.

 

oh ok i just had to hear it from someone...i just didnt seem right....i got them off with a jack and a wrench socket :S but now i have the puller....my air gun didnt fit but i guess i'll raise the truck a bit more then....thankx for help

 

get it off the ground to make it alot easier on you. I have done this 6 times and the first time i didnt have an impact........never again!!!........guess what tool i bought next? if you have an air ratchet to start with you might be able to get a regular impact under there when it starts getting tight and the air ratchet is useless.

 

Did you figure it out? Are they the stock keys, lifting, lowering? If they are lowering keys, you may have them installed one flat of the key off. Lowering keys usually don't even need an unloading/loading tool to reinstall as long as the front tires are at full droop. Lifting keys are another story.

The stock keys should be at an angle down out of the crossmember (again front tires at full droop) and you should use the tool to load them to the point of installing the metal stop through the crossmember. If they are at 90deg to the crossmember, something isn't right, they'll never load that much.

 

itsa z71...i had cranked up to get it leveled...its in the air and the next position for the keys is just to far in that the bars will have no tension at all...i justgot out of class and im gonna go work on it...thankx for the help

 

oh and i forgot to mention that its gonna take about 90 degrees to push them in..they arent 90 degrees from the crossmember so they stick out about 45 degress

No luck guys....the puller keeps turning sideways on me under the load and if i tighten more its gonna come loose....what should i do??

 

I just read theres a left and a right torsion bar..do u think its possible i have em mixed up if i do ima shoot myself
