Default rearend question

i blew up my stock 10 bolt within 2 weeks of owning my truck
so i found a 14 bolt out of an 01 HD and put it in my truck, and about a month later i swapped gears and a new carrier to match the front gears.

but after thousands of questions like "why you got 8 lug in the back and 6 in the front?"
i thought id go ahead and match it up but as i read on this forum ive seen that some guys have 14sf's with 6 lug, and i was lookin for some advice to complete my rear end

any info will help
thanks

i just finshed the same swap in my 2000 gmc 1500 and the 14 bolt 6 lug is the older models of a 14 bolt, you can have custom axle shaft made be thats a maybe on that. I've looked into ways to convert the front and theres either conversion spacers or solid axle swap to a ford 8 lug axle.

Theres a coulple guy on another forum with 8 lug rear axles on their Tahoe's that use 6 to 8 lug adapters on the front, I'd just use the adapters.
