Default rear end question

I got a 2002 4.3 sierra. it is bone stock with an open diff. I am wanting a rear end the locks up so i dont end up stuck on a boat ramp. what are my cheapest/easiest options. thanks!

Cheapest would be to find a used G80, and with that 4.3, you should be more than ok with it.

Thumbs up

8.6" is the size ring gear for 1999-up 1500 series trucks. Unless it is a Vmax or SS 2WD, as those are 14 bolt semi-floating rear ends with 9.5" ring gears.

easiest and cheapest thing you can do is find a wrecked or salvaged z71 at the junk yard and go with that rear end its a G80 and guesing if will fit wont be a problems cuz it will bolt up.

i think theres very few z71's that actually dont have a G80 in the *** so be carefull with that
