Default Rear End Q's need A's

alrigt,to start off, i am needing a posi. before i spend the money on that i want to get the rear end q's out of the way. so here goes:
whats the differences between the 88-98 OBS rear ends and the 73-87's? (5 lug that is)
what im interested in would be, overall length, shock mount location and leaf spring location.

ebay has more 30 spline g80's and they are cheaper than the 28 splines..

if the rear ends are wider, has anyone on here done that to their 73-87? if you are asky why, it would be to push out the rear tire to make it flush with the front, or make it closer. sure you could run a 2" offset rear tire, but then your being like everyone else. in the end i will have 4 wheels that has the same "dish" out front/back but will have been stretched a few inches for a wide tire.
back to the topic, anyone know the differences?
cool,
clint
