Default Rear Drum to Disc conversion

I was pondering the idea to convert my 06 silverados rear drum set up to the disc setup GM had a few years ago. I was wondering was there any problems that people where having with this and that is why GM went back to drum. Or was it just cost effective to put drums on the rear. I thought about going to the junk yard and getting these parts. What parts do I even need to convert it over? All suggestions are welcome.

the reason gm swapped from discs to drums is because some were complaining about the rear discs/pads squealing sometimes and it was cost-efficient for GM to swap to drums and have no warranty issues than to fix the squealing under warranty

So should I rule out converting to GM discs and spend the big $$$ for aftermarket. What about getting the brackets and other hardware and just upgrading the calipers and rotors. This would work wouldn't it?

i cant believe that regency didn't swap to discs when they put the alumasports on the RSTs.

anyways, if you want the front to match the rears, get a set of rear alumasports and see what it doesnt have and get the stock parts to make it work. IMO

SSBC just came out with a rear deisc conversion if I am not mistaken. I thought that the RST trucks had the SSBC Force 10 up front and I bet that the rear upgrade was an option.

if you are ever planning on running slicks for the track I would not use the alumasports as you are limiter to a 20" rim or more. I was gonna make the rear conversion and am glad I didn't.
