Default rear diff service

I have questions on doing rear diff service its probably elementry stuff but i would rather ask than screw things up.

I HAVE A 2005 4.8L 2WD SILVY WITH 43500 MILES

My questions are what types of oils do i need meaning (synthetic or regular, and i heard something about special additives but not sure what they are).

Tools i might need to do the service...

And what you guys recommend ie take the cover off and replace gasket replace drain plugs any thing at all that might i really appreciate it thanks everyone...
