Default Question on G80 interchangability

I have a G80 in my truck right now but I am thinking of upgrading to a Eaton LSD. If I want to take the G80 out of my truck and put it into my old man's '97 worktruck, what's different? Do the axles have the same spline count? Do I need to change the bearings to accomodate his 8.5" housing rather than my 8.6? I'm thinking for him all I should need to do is put new bearings on the G80 carrier and matching races and it should be good as long as the spline count is the same. Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,

Joe
