Question about vacuum modulation!!
#1
Hi fellas,
I got the truck up and running finally and it's feeling pretty good especially for the fact that I I have my shorties on and they have a tremendous leak from a split in the collector
Anyway I noticed today, while I was doing a little routine check on my pistons, there was tranny fluid inside the intake manifold!! I have the Vacuum line from the tranny T'd into the same line the break master cylinder is on!! Should there be oil in the manifold like that or should I be using a different style T fitting?? I removedthe damn EGR and PCV to eliminate the grunge build up in the intake and now I got this crap going
Thanks
Nick

You should not have trans fluid in the intake. In the old days when this happened the modulator diaphram (sp?) was busted allowing fluid to be sucked up with the vaccum. Dunno about the new styles.

Even if there is too much fluid you shouldn't be sucking fluid up through the modulator. The vacuum side of the modulator should be sealed from the fluid side. Sounds like you might have a problem with the modulator.

Well before you take my word for gold, talk to Chuck. I think he'll say the same thing, but I could be wrong.
The vacuum modulator is easy to replace. Drain the fluid, drop the pan, take off two bolts that hold the retainer plate onto the valve body, disconnect the vacuum line, and pull the unit. It's small and should pop right off once the retainer plate is removed. Then reverse to install.
